Are you kidding me!

When I was driving home from Reno last Saturday, I passed by the gas station and threw up in my mouth a little bit!! I don't know what the prices are like where you all live, but this is crazy! Anyway, I thought it would be fun to document the price of gas so that when we are paying $6.00 a gallon, we can look back to the good ol' days of $3.94!!

JUMP!

Malia has been taking swimming lessons for the last 7 months or so. She has made so much progress and we are bummed that the sessions are over. She has gone from being afraid to get her face wet to swimming a few arm strokes on her own and even jumping off the diving board! We are tremendously proud of her and love the light that she brings into our home!

Malia's 1st (actually 2nd) soccer game

So I wasn't totally prepared when Malia had her first game. I brought the camera, but the batteries were dead and I forgot to bring extras. So, we will just pretend that this was the season opener! Malia is doing really well, despite the windy conditions, and she is having a lot of fun. She loves to take breaks and volunteers to sit out when needed, she's just being a team player, ya know! But at a moments notice she feels that fire burning within and just has to run out onto the field to join her team in scoring a goal, who cares if the coach hasn't asked her come back in, they obviously needed an assist with that goal!! She really is improving each game and I love being able to watch her learn how to be a "team player"! She is a crack up!!

The Tank

We went to Douglas County a few days ago to pick up Rod's truck from the shop ( he was in a minor accident about a month ago) and while we were waiting for it to get finished we went to the Sheriff's office to see the tank. Rod is on the S.W.A.T support team at work and that means he gets to drive the tank when their is a S.W.A.T call out. We thought it would be fun to check it out and show the girls. Malia thought it was pretty cool and Brin didn't really care what we were doing as long as she was with her daddy! It was a fun day!

Going up??

I have no idea why, but for some reason Malia is convinced that she is totally getting gypped because we don't have an elevator in our house! I keep trying to tell her that not that many people have elevators in their houses, but she still thinks it is a must have!! One day I was doing the dishes and I couldn't really hear her playing anymore. I went looking for her and found her in our hall closet. She was really upset when I opened the door and I was informed that I needed to hurry and shut it because she was in her elevator and it was going up! So, now when I am looking for her, she yells, " I am upstairs, I will be right down", and she pops out of the closet door! Oh, to be young again and turn a box into a playhouse and a closet into an elevator!!

Who's got rhythym??

I am not quite sure where my girls got their mad skills, but they sure love to bust it out from time to time! They are quite the little entertainers! This was a mild dance session, I will have to try to get more when I can. Enjoy!!

Just me and daddy!

Since Rod changed shifts at work, we are able to have him home with us in the evening. It has been so nice to eat dinner together, and achieve some sense of normalcy. He has been really good to take Malia out riding her bike and doing fun stuff with her. Last night they rode to the park that is just down the street. Rod is really good to let Malia learn how to ride next to him, when I would just walk beside her to keep her out of the street and prevent her from falling. She loves being with her daddy!!

Is that my new playhouse??

Rod and I bought a freezer for the garage and guess what came with it?? A brand new, state of the art playhouse!! What a smokin' deal, huh? After unloading the freezer and getting it situated, I told Malia that we could make a playhouse and she couldn't have been happier. I started bringing the box in from the garage, and she had a look of total disgust on her face when she said, "Is that my new playhouse?" I felt that I had really disappointed her and so I started talking the box up big time, Malia, you're gonna love it, just wait till' daddy gets done! Rod cut some windows and a door, and it suddenly became the coolest box ever made!! I think the box has now become part of the decor, I don't know how we are ever going to part with it. The girls are always in their "playhouse" and Malia asks to eat her lunch in there. Who knew cardboard could be so much fun??

We just wanted to wish "Big Ben" a Happy Birthday and tell you that we love ya and appreciate ya! Here's to you Ben Bob Cobb!!! Hope your day is great!!

Can you say bookworm?

Brinley loves to be with her big sister, doing whatever she is doing. The other day they were playing barbie's together and I went to check on them and Malia was still playing barbie's, but Brin was "reading" all of the books on the shelf!! She loves to pull off books and just sit in the mess and flip through the pages. What a fun girl to have in our family, she is a crack up!!

Don't judge me!

Malia said the funniest thing this morning so I wanted to quickly write it down. It involves me though, so like the title says, don't judge me! It has been a day (or two) since I have graced the shower with my presence. I had just layed Brinley down for her morning nap and Malia was right on me, wanting me to play Barbie's in her doll house. I told her that I needed to jump in the shower because I have been playing and cleaning the past few days and now I was stinky. She all to quickly responded, " But mom, you are always stinky when you wake up!!" So thanks Malia for that pick me up, you really crack me up. I love you!

Where did my baby go??

This last Monday I had a lot on my mind, so I thought I would share. Malia will be going to Kindergarten in the fall and Monday was the day to get her registered. I had a lot of emotions going through me as I drove up to the school and Malia and I walked in and filled out all the paperwork. She seemed so excited and I was just thinking about how in just a few short months, this will be where she is spending her time. I know I shouldn't worry so much, but It terrifies me to send her out in a world when I can't be there to protect her from things that may hurt, or scare her. Have I taught her enough about avoiding dangerous situations? Will she stand up for herself and what she believes? Will she have friends? Will she be picked on? Does she know how much she is loved and cherished? Does she know that she is A Child of God? So many things to worry about!! I guess this is where I turn my fears over to My Heavenly Father and have the faith that while she is not with me, she is still watched over and protected. She is such a beautiful, smart, funny, friendly, girl. I know she will love school and do very well. It seems like just yesterday that I was 18 and just out of high school. I guess I blinked, because I now have 2 beautiful girls calling me mom and I am cruising "to town" in a minivan!! I am soo blessed!

Let's get physical!!

Are your kids driving you crazy? Are they bouncing off the walls? Too cold to go outside? I have the perfect solution to your problem! Put them on the treadmill and make them run!! Today was one of those crazy days and so I told Malia to go get her running shoes and some different clothes and she knew exactly what was going on. I have used this trick from time to time and Malia loves it.

April Fools!!!

We had a great day today! Malia is kind of getting what the day is all about. Before preschool this morning I gave her some yellow milk and she thought that it was pretty cool and she asked if I could make it pink next. For dinner I found some fun recipes and Malia thought they were pretty awesome, so I thought we would give them a whirl. I made a shepards pie that looked like a chocolate pie for dinner and then Malia helped me to make dessert. We made little cookie's that looked like tiny hamburgers. It was so funny when we sat down to dinner and Malia took a big bite out of her "pie", she looked over at me with a really puzzled expression and said, " hey, my pie tastes like beef!" So funny and so worth the work of making the pie!! It was fun to watch Malia get a big kick out of how sneaky we could be and trick daddy. All in all it was a fun day!
