Our Easter festivities were changed a bit this year with Malia being in the hospital. The Easter bunny brought the girls their baskets and new dresses last week, but they were just kind of tossed aside until Malia got feeling better. She is doing much better this week and couldn't wait to wear her new dress to church!! As a kid I swore that I would never make my kids wear matching clothes of any kind, but I just couldn't resist these cute dresses. They even have matching shoes, I know, it's sick! Ha Ha!

Happy belated Easter

Yea!! We are forward facing now!

At 14 1/2 months, Brinley finally weighs in at twenty pounds!(actually it's closer to 19, but who's keeping track, right?) We were really excited to get her turned around, thinking it would make car rides easier, but apparently she just dislikes riding long distances in the car. I hope she learns to love it because we practically live in the car.

When life hands you lemons....
So just a quick update of the past two weeks. (Full of lemons!) So a couple weeks ago ( the 14th, to be exact) Brinley woke in the night with a low grade fever. No surprise as she had a couple teeth on the way, so I just gave her some Tylenol and put her back to bed. We went on as normal the next day, but that evening her fever kept getting higher and higher ever on the Tylenol (like 103.5). I called Rod at work and we decided to take her into an instacare. I dropped Malia off with some friends and Rod met me at the doc. They checked Brin out and said, we don't really know what to tell ya, just keep a close eye on her for the next few days, and start using Motrin as well as Tylenol. Are you freakin' kidding me!! So we went home and fought the fever for the next twelve hours or so. It was Sat. night and Brin couldn't sleep, so I just got her out of bed and let her play in her diaper for a bit. She was really sweaty when I took off her pajams, and her fever had gone down quite a bit, so I was pretty sure we were all good for church the next day, especially since I had to teach Relief Society. At church she was really cranky and irritable, I was walking the halls with her and noticed a rash on her neck and behind her ears. Upon further checking I found out that the rash was all over her back and tummy as well. I took her to have a friend look at her, she is a nurse, and we came the the conclusion that she had Roseola. Basically, once the rash is present, they are no longer contagious. So she took a lot of baths for the next few days and we were good.... Or so we thought!! By Tues. of the next week, we were back on track with our normal schedule, swim lessons, preschool, and ballet. Last Thurs. I went to a party at a friends house and Malia was playing, eating, and jumping on the tramp. We came home and I put the girls to bed. About 11:30 that night Malia was throwing up. As crazy as it may sound, this was my first experience cleaning up puke!! She continued to throw up all night and a little the next day. Fri. was pretty much a sleep day for her to catch up from what she had missed. I gave her water when she was awake, but I guess it wasn't enough. She got more and more sleepy, and lethargic as time went on. By Sat. afternoon, I was starting to worry. I thought we would have seen a turn around by then, but no such luck. So last night Rod and I took her into the E.R. They took some blood and started an I.V to get her hydrated again. The doc. came in after about an hour and said that her potassium and sodium levels were so low that there was no way to get her back up in a few hours. So with that, we were taken up to peds to spend the night. Rod went home to be with Brin, and I was with Malia. She had a rough night, just her body trying to adjust to having fluids again, but she was so tough and I am so proud of her. We have been home for a few hours now and she is just resting on the couch watching a Barbie movie that she got from the Easter Bunny. So Happy Easter to all, we are now enjoying the lemonade!!
